Love Thy Neighbor Book and Film Club

Each month a book or movie is chosen.  Read the book or watch the film on your own and join the discussion each month.  All are welcome!

We’re excited about The Love Thy Neighbor summer read! Everyone is invited to join in reading one of the recommended books. The Path of Grace theme for the September Discovery Day kick off is Building Community.  We have picked four recommended books to fit with the theme. Pick one that interests you. We will gather at the end of the summer and discuss what we learned from our books. Below are four Building Community book options:

1) The Good and Beautiful Community: Following the Spirit, Extending Grace, Demonstrating Love by James Bryan Smith (2010)

2) Community: The Structure of Belonging by Peter Block (2018)

3) The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why It Matters by Priya Parker (2020)

4) The Art of Community: Seven Principles for Belonging by Charles Vogl (2016)

If you have any questions, contact Martha Hobbs Rice.

Happy summer reading!

T’ai Chi Chih

Tuesdays at 11:00am in the Narthex – all are welcome

Linda Zelig, Accredited Teacher

Explore the benefits of T’ai Chi Chih, a moving meditation that improves balance and flexibility, reduces stress, and promotes mindfulness and concentration. The practice of T’ai Chi Chih is easy to learn regardless of age or physical ability. Come as you are—no special clothing required, just bring flexible shoes or barefoot. Work with an accredited instructor on a healing art, not a martial art.

Linda Zelig is an accredited instructor in T’ai Chi Chih and has been teaching all levels of this healing art for the past seven years in schools and churches for all age levels. She believes T’ai Chi Chih is for anyone who wants to achieve better flexibility and balance in life.
